A Woman Stopped My Wedding With Proof of an Affair—Then She Handed Me an Envelope That Changed Everything

Chapter 1 - The Ring That Never Reached Her Finger
The wedding ring hit the hardwood floor before Claire understood why Daniel had stopped smiling. It bounced once and rolled beside a stranger’s burgundy heel.
The dark-haired woman stepped into the aisle, picked up the ring, and faced Claire. “Before you put this on her finger, she deserves the truth.”
Behind Claire, nearly one hundred wedding guests fell silent. Daniel tightened his grip around Claire’s hand and stared at the woman. “Vanessa, don’t do this.”
Claire pulled her hand away. Vanessa looked exhausted rather than triumphant, which somehow frightened Claire more. “Who is she?” Claire asked the man she almost married.
“Someone who shouldn’t be here,” Daniel answered. Vanessa immediately challenged him. “Then ask him why he came to my apartment Thursday night.”
Thursday night, Daniel had supposedly attended his final tuxedo fitting with his brother. He returned carrying grocery-store roses and kissed Claire while she practiced her vows.
Claire looked toward Daniel’s brother in the front row. Instead of meeting her eyes, he lowered his head, and Claire felt her stomach tighten.
“Were you at her apartment?” Claire asked. Daniel admitted he had gone there but insisted he was handling something he planned to explain after their wedding.
Vanessa removed her phone. Daniel reached toward it, but she stepped away and displayed a photograph showing his arm wrapped intimately around her waist.
Then she swiped to another photograph. Daniel was kissing Vanessa. Claire stared at the screen while every carefully planned detail of her wedding suddenly disappeared.
“How long?” Claire whispered. Daniel begged her to listen. Claire repeated the question until Vanessa finally answered for him. “Eight months.”
Eight months meant Thanksgiving, Christmas, cake tastings, invitations, and the night Daniel comforted Claire because her late father would never walk her down the aisle.

Chapter 2 - The Lie About Claire's Mother
“Tell me she’s lying,” Claire said. Daniel looked toward Vanessa instead of answering, and that single glance destroyed whatever hope Claire still desperately held.
Claire stepped backward and caught her heel beneath her wedding dress. Her younger sister Rachel immediately stood, but Claire begged everyone not to touch her.
